Kristie & Cody’s Wedding was the last wedding of 2019 for us was on December 28, 2019. Kristie and Cody met with us earlier in the year to discuss their wedding plans and their photography needs. Kristie and I had a lot in common as we are both transplants to western Kansas from St. Louis Missouri. Kristie is a local school teacher and Cody works for a local utility company. Both were very enthusiastic about their upcoming wedding.
Kristie and Cody mentioned that they already had their engagement pictures completed, so I proceeded to maximize their photography time to adjust for those completed images. The day started for the bridal party at the home of the groom’s parents. The power had gone out at the salon, so modifications were made and the stylists came to them for their hair. Barb and our intern, Clara, stayed with the bridal party to capture images during the time leading up to the wedding.
Meanwhile, I met with Cody and the groomsmen at the church as they were preparing to get ready for the wedding. We had lunch as talked about what they all did for work as most of them worked with Cody at his place of employment. As with all weddings I have photographed, there is always a sense of nervousness as both the bride and groom are wanting the perfect day for them. It was evident with Cody, as he was trying to make those last minute adjustments for the reception as well as prepare himself for the wedding.
Both parties had convened at the church around 1:00 pm. Once I was finished with the groom party and their images, we scurried off to the chapel to await the bridal party. I was able to capture a few touching moments with the bride and her father prior to him walking her down the aisle. The church was still decorated for Advent (Christmas) which gave a very nice backdrop to the entire wedding. Even with the bridal party being 5 minutes late, the wedding was beautiful and full of love and excitement.
