Katie and Logan Dodge City

Katie & Logan’s Wedding

This year has seen it’s best and worst amidst the COVID-19 pandemic and the photography industry is taking hits with cancelled events such as weddings and the like. I have had to adjust some scheduling and time to make such events happen. Katie & Logan’s Wedding was no exception. Their wedding was to be held in a church in Dodge City, Kansas, and following the wedding, we had planned to go to Front Street at the Boot Hill Museum to take some images of them among the old wild west buildings that are a part of the museum. The reception was to follow at a local establishment not far from the museum.

Katie contacted me about 2 weeks prior to the wedding and said that due to the Corona-virus crisis, the church had cancelled their wedding from being held. The only option was to have the wedding and reception at the same location and it was limited to only immediate family, the minister, photographers, DJ, and banquet staff. Katie was concerned as the event time was cut shorter than she anticipated, but I assured her we would be there for her and Logan.

Of course, this was uncharted territory for me doing an abbreviated wedding due to quarantine concerns with trying to compact a full day of photography in 6 hours. Clara and I had a game plan and we set it into motion once we arrived at the hotel where the wedding party was staying. Clara met up with Katie for some images of her getting ready, as I met with Logan and his crew for their images. Katie had mentioned wanting to do a reveal to Logan in the main area of the hotel prior to the wedding. Once individual images were shot, we convened on the main for for the reveal.

The wedding party and families then proceeded to the event center (Cowboy Capital Saloon) which was across the street from the hotel. Since the wedding was limited to strictly family members, social media via Facebook platform was able to live stream the wedding in front of friends and family who could not attend due to the restrictions. The ceremony was brief but outstanding. Katie and Logan said their “I do’s” and then it was reception time.

As with most receptions, shenanigans appeared which included cake smashing to the face, as well as the father of the bride welcoming his new son-in-law to the family with a t-shirt. This continued with the Father-Daughter dance and Katie and her dad, Kevin, donned Blues Brother sunglasses and struck a pose for us during their dance. Considering the circumstances surrounding the pandemic, Katie & Logan’s Wedding went off as planned and a good time was had by all.

Thank you Katie and Logan for choosing G. Robertson Photography as your wedding photographers. We want to wish you all the very best in your marriage and a lifetime of love and happiness.
